About

Growing up in Memphis Tennessee was a tough but rewarding experience. I grew up like majority of kids; with hoop dreams. I loved basketball so much that it was all I thought about. I played EVERY SINGLE DAY ALL DAY. It didn’t matter if it was 100 degrees or 20 degrees outside, I made sure I put a basketball in my hand. I practiced by myself if I couldn’t find anyone to play with, which was most of the time because I am an only child. When I couldn’t play outside or was in school, i liked to draw. Me and my cousin used to watch cartoons and pause the tv where we thought it was a good picture, and just drew it. Always was a big Dragon Ball Z fan so majority of my drawings were characters of the show. Fast forward to high school, 9th grade i tried out for Whitehaven High School’s basketball and didn’t make the team. I was devastated but i didn’t quit, I practiced with the team until they told me I couldn’t come anymore. 10th grade was the exact same thing. I practiced in the summer with the team, ran cross country because it was required from the coach, and still didn’t make the team. I didn’t stop. I ended up having to transfer to Bishop Byrne High for my 11th and 12th grade year. I finally made the team but was sent down to Junior varsity because of complications with the coach. I did really well so when the Varsity coach got fired later that year, i was promoted the same day. I did ok but nothing special. 12th grade I had a couple of 30 point games off the bench but was very inconsistent and felt like i wasn’t getting the playing time I deserved. Honestly, I didn’t deserve it because i didn’t take it seriously. I played around a lot in general, was the class clown in class and practice. I graduated with 0 looks or offers from colleges. I didn’t know what to do so I listened to my parents and went to college for graphic design. That same summer of graduation, i got two jobs (Footlocker and UPS) and moved out of my moms house. I quickly found out that working wasn’t for me while maintaining to play basketball everyday. I began to really get into clothing so I started my own clothing line but eventually stopped. One day I was at the gym and was doing really good. This trainer by the name of Kai Wells approached me and asked if I wanted to play on the next level. This day changed my life because I actually trained everyday and elevated my game. I eventually trusted myself and tried out for a college team and made it. I was 21 red shirting for Dyersburg State. That next year I played, started some games and did exceptionally well. I finished 25th in the national for 3 pt%(46.2%). I got film and walked on at Park University. I got a call up early and started my professional career in Mexico. I had a lot of free time so I taught myself graphic design. I eventually obtained the opportunity to travel to France, Barcelona, and Switzerland all because i never gave up on my dream of playing basketball. First Place Logic (FPL) is not only a brand but a mindset and a culture. It is built on the foundation of "Never Give Up." I want everyone who wears FPL to look and have the mindset of winners and not be content with mediocrity. I want everyone who puts on a FPL piece to have an immediate boost in confidence. I live by the saying," If you look good, you feel better, and you'll do better." I want my line to become one associated with timeless design and quality products. FPL is unisex, and about self-impression. The piece is what you make it. If you're not in first, you're in last.
